Contact Congress: Stop RFS reallocation and fix the $150+ billion RFS

EPA’s latest Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) proposal is already the largest and most expensive in history — set to cost Americans about $140 billion during the next two years. Now, the agency is considering another costly mistake in the form of a “reallocation” mandate that would unfairly shift the cost of small refinery relief onto other refineries, adding billions more to Americans’ RFS bills during the same two years. Costs could easily reach $150 billion just because of reallocation, and if soybean oil prices rise significantly along with the RFS and reallocation proposals, costs to Americans could rise by billions of dollars. These are startling numbers.

Congress must step in. The RFS was never meant to punish U.S. refiners or drive up energy costs for American families, but that’s exactly what the current RFS and reallocation proposals would do.
