This year, the U.S. EPA announced a plan to require nearly 70% of new vehicles to be electric in less than 10 years. The proposal amounts to a de facto ban on most new gas, diesel, flex fuel and hybrid vehicles—cars and trucks that run on American-made, American-grown fuels. It’s an unlawful, extreme gamble with U.S. energy security, industry jobs, consumer choice and affordability.
Email your members of Congress NOW and tell them to stop EPA’s vehicle ban.
Thankfully, there are some leaders in Congress who aren’t willing to sit idly by and let this happen. This week, the House of Representatives will be voting on the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, H.R. 4468, which will block EPA from finalizing the de facto ban and make sure the Agency understands that it does not have authority to ban any vehicle powertrains. Emissions standards can and should be ambitious, but they also need to be tech neutral and allow for all vehicles and fuels to compete.
Democrats and Republicans—especially those who represent refineries, petrochemical facilities and industry workers—need to vote YES on the CARS Act. Please send your representatives in Congress an email right now urging them to stand up for your job, for U.S. energy security and your ability to continue choosing whichever car or truck works best for you and your family.
Let me know if you’ve got any questions. We’re expecting a final vote as early as Thursday. So please send your message NOW and encourage others to do the same.
