Hey,
It’s Ericka. As you may have seen in the news, our country is facing a rail strike in the next week that would affect all major rail operators, stop all freight trains and deliver a major blow to our economy. What you might not have heard is that rail service is already being cut. That’s why we need Congress to ACT TODAY. Refiners and petrochemical manufacturers have started receiving notice from their freight rail providers that certain shipments and deliveries of essential products and feedstocks will no longer be accepted until the threat of a strike is resolved. Without regular rail service, we could face bottlenecks at our facilities and eventual production cuts that could affect consumers at the pump and at the grocery store.
While many are expecting that Congress will do something to intervene and stop a strike, we’re worried they’re going to wait until the last minute. Congress CANNOT drag its feet.
With service cuts already underway, any delay from Congress will mean more supply chain disruptions, difficulties for U.S. manufacturers and potentially higher prices for Americans as a result.
It would be a big help if you would send your congressional representatives a note about this right now. We even have a draft started for you.
Congress must act TODAY to keep a strike from happening and restore all essential rail service. Please send your Senators and your representative in the House a message right now.
Thanks for your time and please let me know if you’ve got any questions.
Ericka
