Making the stretchy pants stretchy

Happy Thanksgiving! From the gasoline that takes you to your loved ones to the stretchy pants that make the post-Thanksgiving nap possible, our industries play a critical role in giving millions of Americans the best holiday season possible.

Turkey Talking Points, Volume 3.

It’s that time of year again. There’s a chill in the air, leaves are on the lawn and festive gourds don our tables. So, get your bird in the oven and hoist up your stretchy pants, because the family is coming over and they have questions about our industries.

Action Alert: Stop California’s vehicle ban from becoming the national norm

Wow. Since I wrote you last week, we’ve made some big progress. The House of Representatives is voting THIS WEEK on one of the bills we’ve been advocating for: H.R. 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act. Please send your Representative a message specifically urging them to support this bill.

Update on gas car bans… Congress is dragging its feet.

Earlier this summer I flagged for you how the House of Representatives was considering legislation to stop EPA from banning gas and diesel cars and trucks. There have been two Congressional hearings discussing the legislation and all signs pointed to a quick vote. But the vote never happened and now we’re in limbo.

We can’t outsource our energy security

In fact, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas (aka the Dallas Fed) says all our investments through 2031 are likely to only bring the United States’ share of global battery production capacity to 11%. Banning cars and trucks that run on American-made, American-grown fuels means exponentially increasing our dependence on China.

EPA’s plan to ban most gas cars and trucks could get pushback from Congress

EPA and the state of California are gambling with U.S. energy security, consumer choice and affordability, and they’re doing so because they’ve taken the flawed policy position that only zero-tailpipe-emission-vehicles are capable of helping to reduce the emissions intensity of transportation. They’re wrong. Their ban-centric approach to vehicle policy is un-strategic and wrong.

Let’s not trade away our energy security

Energy security is national security. Yes, that’s a catchy tag line, but it also happens to be true. It’s also the driving force behind my decades-long, passionate support for the U.S. refining and petrochemical industries. Our U.S. refining and petrochemical industries are not only the envy of the world, but they are a source of strength and security for our country.

Tell EPA: Liquid fuels are part of a sustainable future

Here’s what I believe: The refining and petrochemical industries — our engineers, operators, planners, chemists, innovators and products — are essential to a sustainable future. We hope you’ll join us in telling the EPA that American-made liquid fuels are part of a lower carbon future.

4 reasons EPA’s proposed tailpipe rules are a bad idea

We’ve been raising the alarm about EPA’s newly proposed tailpipe emissions rules. If implemented, these rules would act as an EV mandate and a de facto ban on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. This could upend the U.S. refining industry.

Deadline July 5: Submit comments on EPA’s proposal to ban new gas and diesel vehicles

More than 90% of American households own a car, so this is a policy that is going to affect almost every one of us. For something this severe and transforming—which threatens to upend U.S. refining and petrochemical manufacturing—EPA has inexplicably decided to only take public comments through July 5.
