McKinsey released a new report outlining the emissions profiles of plastic vs. non-plastic alternatives in multiple use cases. They found that in nearly every case examined, plastics are responsible for less greenhouse gas emissions throughout their lifecycle than alternative materials.

Every car and truck impacts the environment, but the points at which they generate emissions can vary by vehicle type. For an apples-to-apples comparison, we must account for emissions associated with a vehicle’s entire lifecycle.

Advanced recycling technologies are expanding the amount of plastic waste that can be recycled, and broadening the range of products that can be made from that waste.
